My art is an extension of my life. I spend many hours in my studio working with cold wax, oil, monotype, encaustic and collage. I love to experiment with all the different media I have available.
My work is in-betted in many layers and tell stories inspired by life, relationships, but also nature and the many trips I make to the USA and other countries. Painting allows me to share what I can’t say in words, each piece has its own story.
Life
Like many people, happy and sad events happened during my life and shaped me to the person I am today. It made me strong and vulnerable and that’s what I want to express in my work. To have faith in what I do, explore new ways and getting excited also when you don’t know what it wil bring.
I like what Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote:
“ Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase”.
I went to ArtEZ University of the Arts later in life but have been always ’busy’ with creating. After graduating at ArtEZ I did art related work and during this time I raised two beautiful daughters I’m so proud of!
I worked with kids during summerschool in Germany and Mozambique which I loved doing.
Being a peoples person, open to see the beauty in people, their strength and resilience but also their vulnerability. Sometimes I have the opportunity to be a part of their life and feel blessed to ’walk’ with them for a short or longer time and get the chance to know them a little better! These people related experiences I express intuitively in the ’layers’ of my work.
Dreamer
I can be a dreamer, it triggers my imagination. Using my imagination together with my interest in other cultures and their ’language’ expressing this in some of my work by using letters in different languages, symbols, signs and marks.
Media
Working with the different kinds of material (media) can be very exciting, it is a journey on its own! I truly try to understand the materials I work with, do research and lots of experimenting. Over the years I have worked with acrylic, clay(3D), printing ink (book printing the ’old fashion way’), cold wax and oil, encaustic and paper/collage.
Looking back elements of paper/collage always comes back in my work (more or less visible ) together with encaustic, cold wax and oil and in combination with monotype.
